Some pictures of my visit of this nice town in the middle of Portugal. It has a very old city wall and is mostly made of old houses, freshly painted that trek tons of tourists. The town has a romantic past. In former times the king gifted this city to his wife for their wedding. King Afonso II started this tradition and gave his wife Uracca this beautiful town. Therefore it is also called Vila das Rainhas (city of queens).
There are many small roads with stairs and beautiful houses. These magnificent plants were on many houses and gave a great contrast to the white-blue-yellow houses.
Die Aussicht über Óbidos. Toll, oder? Im Hintergrund sieht man die Stadtmauer.
The view over Óbidos. Great, isn't it? In the background you can see the city wall.
The town gate with azulejos in blue and white. It was really narrow so I was really surprised when cars and even small trucks drove through it!
